मैम के बारे में जितना जाना, जितना सुना बस यही लगा काश मैं उनसे मिल पाती, काश उनका स्नेह मुझे भी मिल पाता है, उनसे मैं भी कुछ सीख पाती। कितना विराट व्यक्तित्व था उनका पर उसके उलट एकदम सहज, सरल, पानी सी पारदर्शी, ख़ुद भूखी रह जाएं पर उनके सामने कोई भूखा नहीं रह सकता था, साड़ियों का बहुत शौक था। महिला सशक्तिकरण की मिसाल। अदभुत व्यक्तित्व की धनी थीं हमारी सत्या मैम। मैम को शत शत नमन और जन्मदिन की ढेरों शुभकामनाएं।

A revered member of our Economics department at Kalindi College, we did not get much opportunity to meet and interact with ma’am Dr. Satya Jangid (as I joined college in 2005) but have heard numerous instances of her great personality, kindness and fearlessness from senior colleagues. It seems she lived a life and had a character true to the meaning of her name ‘Satya’. What touches me the most is the beautiful relationship shared between Sir and Ma’am which has run beyond the usual dimensions of time and space. It is indeed an immortal love story between two great souls that have touched lives of countless people. Even when ma’am was bedridden and could not be there for events organized by the department after her retirement Sir would ensure her presence by representing his beloved wife. Today too even though she has gone to the other world, their love story continues and shall serve as an inspiration for us all. With warm regards always fondly remembering ma’am on her birthday 🙏🙏

स्वर्गीया प्रो. (डा.) सत्या सदैव इस बात को लेकर चिन्तित रहती थीं कि अपने से कमजोर व्यक्ति की मदद कैसे की जाए? उनका कालेज करोलबाग, नई दिल्ली के रैगड़पुरा क्षेत्र से सटा हुआ था। इसमें रामेश्वरी, नेहरू नगर, अमृतपुरी और देवनगर के कई ऐसे हिस्से भी शामिल हैं, जहाँ सत्तर प्रतिशत से अधिक
लोग भारत और पाकिस्तान के विभिन्न हिस्सों से आकर बसे थे। उन्होंने अपने कालेज में राष्ट्रीय सेवा
योजना ( एन. एस. एस.) की स्थापना की और दिसम्बर
1969 से जुलाई 1970 के बीच की अवधि में अमृत कौर पुरी तथा देवनगर ब्लाक 6 के 88 घरों का गहराई से सामाजिक एवं आर्थिक सर्वेक्षण किया, जिससे कालेज उनकी यथा संभव मदद कर सके। भारत में किसी भी कालेज द्वारा किया गया यह पहला सर्वेक्षण था।

शिवा दुआ ने इस सर्वेक्षण की रपट की भूमिका में लिखा कि भारत के सीमित उपलब्ध संसाधनों का बेहतर उपयोग और सामाजिक व आर्थिक
नीतियों का सही निर्धारण तभी सार्थक हो सकता है
जब नीति बनाने वालों और जिनके लिए नीति बनाई जा रही हो उनके बीच बेहतर संवाद हो।इस कॉलेज द्वारा अमृत कौर पुरी और देवनगर ब्लाक 6 के 88 घरों का जो सामाजिक तथा आर्थिक सर्वेक्षण किया गया है, वह ऐसे ही संवाद का आधार है।
शिक्षा संस्थाएं ऐसे संवाद स्थापित करने में महत्वपूर्ण
योगदान कर सकती है।
इस सर्वेक्षण में जन्म स्थान, रहने की अवधि, जाति
परम्परागत व्यवसाय, आयु, लिंग, शिक्षा का स्तर (विशेषतः स्त्रियों और बच्चों में), लिंग के आधार पर कामकाजी व्यक्तियों का
ब्यौरा, औसत मासिक आय, औसत मासिक खर्च, जरूरतमंद और विकलांग व्यक्तियों का ब्यौरा, घरों का ब्यौरा, घरों में उपलब्ध सुविधाएं
आदि ग्यारह बिन्दुओं पर ध्यान दिया गया।
इसमें यह प्राध्यापिकाओं और २८ छात्राओं का सहयोग लिया गया। इस सर्वेक्षण में रैगरों के 37 घर और खटीकों के 19 घर यानी 88 में से 55 घर दो अनुसूचित जातियों के थे। इसमें 617 व्यक्तियों में
334 पुरुष थे और 278 स्त्रियां 116 वर्ष की आयु तक 138 मैं 36 ने पढ़ाई छोड़ दी थी और 102 पढ़ रहे थे 116 वर्ष की आयु
तक 143 स्त्रियों में से 62 शिक्षित थीं। इन62 स्त्रियों में से 8 ने 16 वर्ष तक आते. जाते पढाई छोड़ दी थी और 54 पढ़ रही थीं। 140 कामकाजी व्यक्यिों में केवल बीस महिलाएं कुछ न कुछ काम कर रही थीं। 617 व्यक्तियों में केवल 140 के पास रोजगार था | इस सर्वेक्षण में शामिल प्रति परिवार की औसत मासिक आय 206 रु थी। 88 परिवारों में प्रतिव्यक्ति औसत मासिक खर्च 31 रु था।
88 परिवारों में 7 व्यक्ति जरूरत मंद और 19 विकलॉग थे। 88 घरों के 102 कमरों में 617 लोग रहते थे। इनमें से
59 परिवार किरायेदार थे 21 के अपने घर थे, ओर 2 परिवार झुग्गियों में रहते थे। यह स्थिति थी वर्ष 1976 में कालिन्दी कालेज, पूर्वी पटेलनगर, नई दिल्ली 110-008 (दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय) की पड़ोसी बस्ती की।
इसमें प्रो. (डॉ.) सत्या जांगिड़ ने पर्चा बंटवाया कि किसी भी महिला को शराब पीकर पति पीटे या कोई
ससुर, जेठ, देवर, 'सास, जिठानी, देवरानी दुर्व्यवहार
करे तो वह कालिन्दी कालेज
के नारी विकास केन्द्र में आकर शिकायत दर्ज कराए तो दो महिला वकील उसे
मुफ्त कानूनी मदद देगी। पहला नारी विकास केन्द्र दिल्ली विश्व विद्यालय में उन्होंने ही स्थापित किया था। स्त्रियों के अधिकारों की
जानकारी देने वाली पहली हिन्दी पत्रिका 'नारी विकास' भी उन्होंने शुरू की थी। उन्होंने 1965 में अपनी पी. एच. डी. उपाधि के लिए
कृषिकानूनों में महिलाओं की स्थिति को चुना था।

Our nani's brilliance shone brightly through her education and her insatiable thirst for knowledge.
